Attached is a screenshot of my avatar insights today, where ‘he’ is reporting a row session of 0 minutes. Looks like it reads the topline duration but this is not being summed from the overall components of the session; WU + Steady + Prep etc.
What are other beta users thinking about the new AI coach comments?
Personally I think they’re pretty darn impressive. Found some grammatical stuff I’m working on fixing here but pretty minor relative to the work this is doing for coaches (and self-coached) athletes.
Thinking this through further and noting the same thing for yesterday’s all out 6k session, the issue stems from the session not having a determined time as its a mix of time and distance - the 6k, which as a test is by definition not determined.
In the scheme of things this is quite nitpicky, probably falling into the realm of grammar or the like.
The following is offered as constructive critique based on my experience and expectations (unrealistic?) thus far. As a headliner, I want to say the avatar is taking feedback to next level - well done.
My initial response to the avatar was noting the loss of the in-session feedback, the detail of which I use to look forward to post session. In hindsight though, I recall thinking that I was getting to the stage that the feedback experience was that it was becoming more of a text summary version of the numerics that I could read directly in the session. As I learnt more about FTI, mwr etc, the value of the in-session feedback was starting to reduce, as it was not adding much beyond what I could read for myself.
My experience of the avatar at this point is that it is repeating a lot of the content that I can see/access in my plan - so not really adding as much value as hoped for. The exception to this are the recovery insights, which again I could access going into the charts. But the value I experience is having the recovery insights within the same immediate context of the avatar outlining my past session and next session. How I am feeling becomes more relevant as I go into that next session - i.e. its in my face.
I think the real opportunity of the avatar approach is that it sits in a wider context, spanning sessions, and potentially weeks. And noting it’s early days, there is opportunity for more refining. Example being, and echoed by Marjaana’s session, when I got my week’s session summary it looked promising. But as I read through it, it offered not a lot more than what would be achieved going into each of those sessions. I was looking for the “so what”.
So given that opportunity, the potential real value is providing that additional layer of insight/s that I don’t have the knowledge or capability to provide myself as a self coached athlete.
Now as I make those comments, I’m also cognisant of the somersaults needed for me to even get chatgpt working as I would like at times. Therefore I assume that the further we move toward insights, and away from actual data, the greater the risk of creating mistakes and false expectations.
Keep doing what you are doing Paul and team, these enhancements and direction are creating a new future for training with greater health and performance. Good stuff.
I think it’s pretty cool - and I like that the recovery data is now included in the overview so I don’t always need to look at my recovery profile. I am on a blank plan at the moment, and the avatar doesn’t seem to give the daily feedback…
I thought this was interesting - a few weeks ago the Avatar congratulated me for being on Athletica for 1400 days…my first reaction was “wow, that’s a long time!”. Then I googled, how many days since March 16, 2020 has passed, and it said “1740 days”…hmm, that’s a bit off so not sure where it got that number from, but regardless I appreciated the sentiment
I like this, especially “It’s normal to see fluctuations in your chronic and acute fatigued metrics during this time. In fact, we haven’t detected any significant trends in either direction.”
