First, I have two back-to-back interval sessions in the next 4 weeks (Saturday short HIIT, Sunday threshold intervals). When I started here mid July they were typically Wednesday and Saturday. At my performance level, I have serious doubts that this is a good idea (and so I don’t do it). Is this intentional with some logic behind or just a flaw of the simulator distributing workouts ?
Second, I don’t like double run days. I would like to have double days as one run and a bike, if two sessions are necessary. I understand that there might theoretically be an advantage of running twice but with the modest distance I run weekly this doesn’t seem necessary. Can I somehow force the system to do exactly one run on a run day?
Can you share a screenshot of your training week here please? Also what is your A race? Is it duathlon, triathlon and did you put any restraints into your plan when you created it? (example, no training on certain days?
Hi , these are two example weeks, one with back-to-back intervals and the second one with double run days (actually two of them). I don’t do duathlon or triathlon but running and cycling races separately. So I pick my next important race as main sport (currently running) and then switch the main sport to cycling after that. In the weekly schedule I force the plan to have days with the secondary sport. Basically I want to train both all the time but switch priorities depending on the next event. Thank you for reading this stuff Achim
Hi; that plan overall looks pretty solid for your run goals, with the workout mix at least! I don’t love double run days, but they still show up for me when on a running focus! The platform may think you need some time between runs for the impact vs. one longer effort, or think you need more sessions versus more hours to build up tolerance, etc..
And for the HIIT followed by Threshold\, I wonder if it’s due to forcing the alternate sports too much? If you’re pushing the program to have biking on Tuesdays or Thursdays, for example, it may just be trying to fit in the necessary workouts for your current top priority (running) where it can. Maybe loosen up the days where you’re forcing the secondary sport?
Otherwise I’d just drag and drop for the next little bit, or remove the forcing of bike sessions and just use workout wizard to replace some runs with rides, since it sounds like you’re close to making changes in priorities after your next race. Hope that helps!
