Clarification on week schedule

Hi
I just had a look to my next week workouts and i really don’t figure why it is in this way…note i am on duathlon program
Monday: strenght training ok
Tuesday: rest
Wednesday: I have a costraint to run at least 80 minutes. I have 2 (two) runs for over 2 hours…first for VO2 second forcaerobic
Thursdays: another run of over 1 hour
Friday: wanderful 2 (two) strenght workouts of 42 minutes each on the same day
Saturday: run of the bike but witout any bike session…
Sunday: long bike as request from my constrain.
So it seems like somebody chose something in a basket and put here and there.
I am so perplessed about the scheduling of athletica in this moment.
Please could someone explain little bit better how this schedules are created?
Thank you

Hi @Prato … would you like me to remove you from the beta program with the constraints? Remember this is being worked on and users coming into the program are aware of this. No problem to exit if the outcome is frustrating you. Let me know. Best, Paul

Hi @prof. Do you think these issues are due to beta program? Do you think without constraints the schedule will have a logic? I mean a program shouldn’t put togheter just an amount of load but give also a right alternate between load and recovery. If you think that there is something to set in a week like my next one and you think this is due to beta program please let me know. If i don’t use day costraints and i will have in any case week like this, so between these two option i prefer remain in beta and work around in some way to adjust the schedule.

Hey @Prato
I don’t know how you set the time constraints, but as @Prof mentions the function is not perfect yet; and sometimes gives a “little” crazy plans.

For example,
Our strength workouts are 30 mins long and. (Non adaptable, meaning they don’t change). If you give instructions: “strength training on Friday for 60 mins” , instead of giving you one strength workout, it will give you two instead of modifying the length of the non-adaptable strength workout. If you have time for 60 mins, I would just repeat the workout 2-3 times.

Our backend guys are working on it and we will get it right in the future.
In the mean time let me know your “ideal” weekly schedule and I am happy to help you adjust.

Hi @Marjaana
Thank you for your help.
My constraints actually are:
I want run for at least 80min on Wednesday
I want ride for no more than 1 minute on wednesday
I want to ride for at least 150min on Sunday
As you can see i don’t even mention straight & condition.
I am a triathlete but in this moment i can’t swim so i choose duathlon for this winter time. Until i restart to swim my constraints are the ones on the top essentially. In January or February a will need to set also swimming day.
Yhank you again and happy Christmas!!!

Hey,
Got it. So strength training is really throwing a monkey wrench in there.

I don’t remember the duathlon structure off the top of my head, but my suggestion is:
Pull your long runs from Sunday (I think long runs are on Sundays on duathlon plan but not sure) to Wednesday, and either delete or move bike workout from Wednesday.
Pull Saturdays long ride to Sunday. If it is not 150min, just extend the workout as you see fit your schedule, plan and fitness. Those long rides are awesome for building that aerobic base when kept in Zones 1&2.
When you are swimming again, you can switch over to triathlon plan or use the workout wizard injury tab to change one workout to swim.

I would do this every weekend either Saturday or Sunday when you are looking ahead next week and making your schedule. I realize it requires a bit more work from your side, but is great practice to plan and learn what works for you and your schedule.

Hope this helps, although I realize you’d rather just have AI do all this work for you. Sorry we are not quite there yet for you.

Merry Christmas, enjoy some peaceful time with loved ones
