Advice: Holiday(vacation) 3 weeks before event

My partner and I booked a week in the south of france in the middle of no where beforeI signed up to a half distance tri earlier in the year. I always thought what ever, im not a pro athlete I will just have the week off training (3 weeks out). I am just looking at my training plan and when I get back I have a 2 week taper. If I do very little (a couple of runs, swims and body weight workouts), and probs consume some french wine during that week, should I be trying to rev up for 1 week then doing a 1 week taper? Has any one ever been in this situation and how did you handle it? Also how will the ai handle me missing a whole week?

I’ve been on this situation several times and my advice is to enjoy the vacay. If you can do something, even 30mins, add some strength and running uphill efforts to keep the old ticker going, you’ll be fine.
Once you get back from vacation, renewed, refreshed and energized, start your taper. Don’t try to cram in extra training. Eventually do longer pre-race practice sessions two weekends out from your race, but that’s it.
