Between HR, Pace and time I get confused about which I’m supposed to prioritize. I see a lot of posts about this in general, so let me be more specific.
Sometimes the directions for a workout, the pace, heart rate and time simply CAN’T add up even contradict each other. I had a “Steady 54’ run” today. The heart rate zone for the “jog” portion topped out at 122 but the direction specifically stated to run at 130. 130 would have had me at too fast of a pace.
I guess my confusion is why the disconnect is so great. My heart rate when I run a prescribed pace os 10% or more above the heart rate goal for the workout (and conversely, if I run for heart rate my pace is lower than plan). Is this not the case for most people?
Go by heart rate on aerobic runs, and by pace (or power) for anything else.
If you can go by heart rate and RPE during your aerobic runs, the pace don’t matter.
Pace “too low” - so what? This is where you are the moment - follow the plan it will get better.
Pace high - great! you’re showing adaptations and getting fitter!
Go by pace & RPE targets when doing intervals. HR doenst’ matter, why? because there’s a lag in HR response, and it takes some time before it catches up.
I had a aerobic development session today where i was supposed to focus on hitting HR adressed by the AI coach. When looking at the data i did exactly that, but i get negative feedback by the AI coach, which i find pretty unmotivating as i get confused about if i can trust the feedback.
I can read that i should follow the HR when doing below threshold and i understand why.
My irritation is that the AI coach prescibes HR and then gives me critic on not hitting my paces.
Is it in the pipeline to have a lot at that?
Hi @martinkahn ,
We are currently working on a new version based on everyone’s feedback and we are aware of the issues.
You can turn off your AI-coach feedback in Settings, Profile, AI-Coach Settings
