What rules does the order of the workouts in the week follow?

Probably not real troubleshooting here, but what are the rules for the order of the workouts in a week?

Background: I switched two workouts this week to have the long Strength Endurance workout (15k) on the weekend and the shorter Aerobic Development workout (8k) yesterday. After moving them I unlocked them so Athletica was able to alter them.

Atheltica altered them the next day so the AD workout for yesterday was 15k and the SE workout on the weekend was 8k. I know I could have avoided that by leaving the session locked. But I would be really interested to learn which rules apply here. Obviously the exact content of the session is not that important - even if SE and AD are certainly very close to each other. Is it about the training load? I’d like to understand the basics better and don’t recall reading anything about it on the blog or hearing anything about it on the podcast - apart from the fact that the weekly plan is based on the plans in the book.

Hey, :wave:t2:
What was original plan?
8k on Wednesday SE
15k Sunday AD

I believe weekend session load (duration x intensity) would be kept the same considering time available and Monday likely recovery day, so that weekend’s total load a bit higher before allowing that recovery to happen on Monday.

These two were close in terms of aerobic and se work. For sure 15k SE hits the legs differently than the 8k SE. When you move workouts in the future, make sure to allow HIIT work with “fresh” legs or at least not carrying too much fatigue. And then something easy the day after. I’m sure you know this already.

Original plan was 15k on Wednesday and 8k on Sunday. Didn’t feel like 15k after work midweek, so I changed it to 8k on Wednesday and 15k on Sunday. But the algorithm insisted on having a long run right before the VO2max intervals on Thursday… So I wondered about the ruleset behind that.

I guess depends on your fitness, really. Fit person can easily do 15k aerobic and back it up with HIIT the day after.

Context dependent. If you feel like 15k is too much before a hiit, then swop those days. :raised_hands:t2:
